Into the past.

Today is my Grandmother's Birthday. Little did I know I would be the one to receive a gift! The story of how a very young, beautiful, and (a little bit) unprepared couple met in the 1950's. A political rally is the setting where a newly returned G.I. saw the prettiest girl with the darkest curly hair he had ever seen. After "shooting the breeze" as my Ma had said the soldier put his arm around the "little lady" and asked if she saw the shooting star over her head? When she looked up he planted the first kiss she had ever received on her pretty pink cheek. Pa is the only man my Ma has ever kissed since then. The young man took his new prize to the first picture show she had ever been to that night. Needless to say neither mentioned  the results from the Governor's Election.
Learning about our past is learning about who we are. This entire story plus many more were told over a big bowl of peas (Grown by Pa) being shelled and the television had been turned off.
It makes me wonder what other things we miss out on because of busy schedules and "more important things" just my thoughts for the evening.  Until next time friends! <3
