What A Wonderful World

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

There is so much beauty in the world, if we would only stop and take the time to look.

These are pictures of some of the things that have caught my attention, most were in my own back yard.
The cow with her calf makes me laugh, I can hear her voice saying with a British accent, "Do you mind?!"!
Maybe I'm crazy and maybe no one else will find these as fascinating as I do, but I love them too much not to share.

Sometimes people ask me what my blog is about, I usually answer "A fashion blog with a little bit of whatever I want."
Today, this is what I wanted to share with you, a little bit of my wonderful world.

The White House and Katherine

Oh how you have changed but oh how you have stayed the same.

It isn't very often you get to go inside of the house you grew up in after it has been sold to someone else.
Today my mom and I got to do just that!
We are in the process of switching Dentists,
(We drove about an hour to get to our old dentist just because we loved our dental hygienist so much!!! She has since moved, but we miss her very much!)
the new dentist happens to be renting the house for storage and let us take a peek!

It seems so different, smaller even, of course I was in the 4th grade when we moved so I have gotten bigger!
The walls are painted a completely different color, some light fixtures were changed and the house has gotten older faster from lack of use.
The house is one of the oldest ones in the town and so full of southern charm.
The parts that I love the most of course are the things that have been left unchanged.
The attic and laundry room are completely the same way they were 100 years ago, granted the paint and wallpaper is peeling but I kind of like that, it tells a story.
Nearly all of the door handles were the same.
When I went outside I saw the tree I used to climb while I pretended I was Pocahontas.
The best treat we found though, gave us goose bumps!
Colton and Chase had written their names and played a game of tic-tac-toe in the closet under the stairs it is still there!

So today's outfit was inspired by Katherine Hepburn's laid back masculine style with feminine flair.
She often wore men's clothing and couldn't look more lovely in it!
This is of course is my modern take on it, inspiration doesn't mean copying detail for detail but more fusing the look with your own personal style.

Pencil Skirt And Pearls

What I wore to church and a baby reveal!

So as you can probably tell from my face I am lacking sleep!
I was supposed to have a photo shoot tomorrow which means getting up super early but it has been rescheduled which means I don't have to wake up before the sun!!! YAY!!!

So this is the first time I have worn this skirt I bought from Forever21 and the shirt has been shown so many times someone is probably thinking "Okay we get it you like that shirt...A LOT!!!"
The truth is you're right imaginary person!
The belt is vintage along with almost all of my jewelry minus the Jade bangle and Piper by Design dream catcher bracelet!
That's it I'm sleepy everyone!!!

War Paint

If you can't tell I have high socks on, not a weird tan line!
 I'm back from Girl's Camp!!!

Girl's camp was fantastic this year and I completely enjoyed every single girl there, they were all beautiful inside and out.
None of us wore makeup for nearly a week and it made me so happy to see everyone so lovely and confident in their own skin!

I mentioned once before that I want to show you all the real piper....
This is probably as real as it gets!
This is usually what I look like when I'm writing the blogs that you read just add my glasses and a top knot sitting high on my head and you have a visual!
If I am home I am probably bare faced with just some moisturizer and lip balm.
The current ones I'm using are by Cetaphil(Night moisturizer), Olay(Day sunscreen/moisturizer) and Burt's Bees(The cooling one).

This is me getting personal, This is me without my War Paint.
I have blemishes, frizzy hair and eyelashes that don't curl in the slightest without mascara.
But that is okay, I don't hate these things about myself I've accepted them!
Audrey Hepburn once said in an interview that she kept her eyebrows thick because she didn't like her nose.
If one of the most beautiful women in the world had insecurities I think it is safe to say everyone has at least one thing that they aren't the most satisfied with.
That is also okay and in fact normal!

It's letting the insecurity consume you that should never happen!
Always remember that you are a beautiful Son or daughter of Heavenly Father and he makes no mistakes.
The confidence you will gain translates to your outward appearance as well.
You can be Miss America beautiful but if you don't carry yourself with confidence you are not reaching your full potential.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

P.S. Never forget to take your makeup off every night!
Let your skin breathe!!!

Foot Loose

Two posts in one day! WHAT?!

So I had to share my outfit from last night!
I had to recreate it because I was running a little late for the musical Foot Loose and it started raining!
The only things that are different are the clutch and a few bracelets are missing.
It was so great to see a few of my friends that were in the show and many of my friends who were in the audience like myself!

I guess you could say I was color blocking AND mixing patterns!
A cold water creek gingham blouse.
A kid GAP skirt.
Vintage clutch and pearl necklace.
And of course a Mia Luna coral and pearl dream catcher bracelet.
I've had the shoes for so long I don't remember where they are from!

The milkmaid braids tutorial is coming I promise!
I'll be gone for about a week which is why I'm posting twice in one day so enjoy it! ;)

Why Buy It When You Can Build It?

Measure twice cut once.

Why buy it when you can build it?

That is my Dad's Motto for life!
So we started this gate project on July 4 and due to all of this rain didn't put the gate up until the 18.
It still has a few tweaks to go but it's pretty awesome for being the first and only gate we've ever done!
We built it all from scratch!
So of course while I was running around holding this piece of metal or moving some sort of power tool away from the blow torch's flame I got to take a few pictures of the Gate in progress.

We built the gate in the shop which is basically one giant toy box for guys.
As you can see, motorcycles all taken apart a dirt bike with a barrel plug from a C-130 Hercules Gunship in the exhaust (I had to ask where that came from) and all of the tools necessary to build a fine iron gate.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!
My dad, Colton and Chase are the ones you see doing all of the intense stuff.

Remember next time you want to go out and buy something it can be more thrilling to build it yourself!

Dirt On Our Faces And Deliriously Happy

How many people can say that they had a dance/sod laying party?!

Many hands make the load light, in our case the load was still pretty heavy but MUCH lighter than it would have been!
Yesterday afternoon I received a call from my oldest sister Megan, she and her husband are building a new house and the sod just came in and needed to be laid before we had anymore rain!
I talked our two brothers into going and I'm so glad that we all went together!

Yes we were tired and yes we all have several battle scars from the ants that made the sod their home but we had so much fun all the while it didn't hardly phase us.
We danced like crazy people and sang along loudly to 80's music like, I need a hero and open arms!
No one got upset and no one was seriously injured (I did cut myself closing a plastic Mr.Pibb bottle, hence the band-aid in the bottom picture, who does that?!) just a good old happy time!

We are all a little bit crazy and when you accept it you are going to be happier than you were before.
If you think about it there are very few "Normal people" in this world so doesn't that in itself make them abnormal?
Food for thought I will leave you with!

ps yes Megan I know you are going to kill me for this but it was just too perfect!
I love you!!!
