Tis the Season

 Lemon pound cake?
Yes PLEASE!!!
The nightmare before Christmas on Christmas eve!
#Classic
McKy, Colton and Chase enjoying the spring rocking horse!
  Look at that face!
He didn't want me to take his picture.
We have always used gram crackers for our "Gingerbread" houses.

 Homemade icing for the mortar.

Kaylor using his pretend shaving set like a pro! ;)
Jaizy riding side saddle while holding her American Girl doll.
 And now for Christmas dinner.
This is a bacon wrapped chicken breast stuffed with spinach and goodness!!!
Seriously this was a feast for champions!
 We even had Barbie cabbage!

I think it's safe to say that we enjoyed our Christmas eve and Christmas day with most all of our Family and the best food EVER!
We each took a turn with the ab roller after eating and let us just say... I don't know if my aching "Abs" are from the workout or from the hilarity of watching everyone trying it!
Unfortunately people laughed at me the most so I probably need to be practicing!
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and remembered the reason for the season!

Puff Sleeves

Whilst tucking in my hair tie Colton snapped this gem of Diesel doing what he does best!
Photo bombing dog!
What I wore to church Christmas Sunday!
My niece told me I looked like a Christmas ornament, I responded with a thank you and "So do you!"
She said, "Are you saying I look fat?" I then said "were you saying that I look fat?!"
She said no and I said she was silly.
My niece is only 7 years old!!!
This is a war she shouldn't be fighting yet!
Point of the story LOVE YOURSELF!
As long as you are healthy you should try your best to be happy!
And if you aren't happy do something about it!
To be honest, there isn't a scale anywhere in the house in the end it's just a number!
Sorry, I will get off of my soapbox now!
Back to the outfit! ^^
Both the blouse and the skirt are thrift store finds and I wore them both for the first time today!
The shirt's sleeves make me think of Anne of Green Gables!
If you don't know what that is you must google it NOW!!!
Anne is my kindred spirit and these puff sleeves made me so happy!
The skirt is leather and has been in my closet so long I don't know when I bought it but I bought it for only $4.00!!!
Yes you did just read that right!
Thrift stores rock my socks!
The shoes are black suede booties by Sam Edleman.
Last but not least my most recent purchase from old navy were these black sunnies!
I actually bought two pairs of sunglasses in one day!
These are the first pair and I'm sure you will see the others soon enough!

Happy Sunday from my family to yours!

The Bronze Crab

 "Look what I can do!"
My Grandmother loves the sea and all of the little creatures in it. (Which is funny because she can't swim)
So for Christmas this year I thought about buying her a beautiful crab print that I saw and loved!
Then I thought to myself, "Why don't I take a crack at it?!"
I've been painting little things here and there lately but this has been my most intricate painting so far!
I'm glad that I decided to try!
I used an old dictionary page for my "canvas" and two different shades of bronze paint.
I also looked at different kinds of crabs but this one looks the most like a stone crab!
If I ever paint a Blue crab it will have to be in color to do it justice!
So far this crab has been my favorite and most detailed painting that I've done so far!
I'm by no means a professional but I enjoy doing it and giving these as very special yet inexpensive gifts!
 Tis the season for baking!!!
I made brownies but took them to a church event without taking pictures of the finished product!
They were delicious!!!
This evening at twilight everything had a pink glow!
I guess I have to admit that the best painter who ever was and ever will be is our Heavenly Father.
I hope everyone is enjoying all of the festivities of this time of year!!!

Center Part

One of yesterday's sets for the SassySisterVintage photo shoot.
These dresses were all so amazing and I loved every aspect of this shoot!
The cowhide is the same one we used in the Down The Rabbit Hole shoot!
The boots and rings are mine but the dress can be found on etsy in SassySisterVintage's shop!
So this dress was actually my favorite!
It reminds me of Mongolia, especially next to the animal hide and mixed textiles.
The center part was Kim's doing, I always feel self conscious with a center part, I feel like it makes my face look funny!
I know it's actually quite silly of me to think so in depth about a simple hair parting!
But in the end it wasn't that bad and I will probably part it down the middle a little bit more in the future!
This hat was awesome I loved the texture and color!
How the hat is probably supposed to be worn!
The turquoise ring I bought on one of my trips to Manhattan and the purple jade ring is from my mom.
The shrug and dress will be available in the SassySisterVintage shop as well!
Also I know my calves look ginormous but in actuality they are not nearly as fierce as they appear!
The dress is 1940's and fabulous!

All of the amazing set styling that you see is done by Kim and myself!
A lot of times she tells me what she wants and I help her move it! ;)
But since we do these photo shoots in her home we always use things that she already has!
This green chair is a new addition that she has added and I am in love!
Things just aren't made the way that they used to be!
Buy Vintage for life!!!
Click on SassySisterVintage to go to Kim's online vintage shop!

I hope you enjoyed stopping by and going with me to another photo shoot!
Maybe next time I with take progressive pictures of how we style the shoot in case some of you want some home decor inspiration!

Two Turkeys

So I'm very behind on posting the Thanksgiving festivities and it was a very busy day so I didn't take too many pictures!

Chase holding the ice he found, it's rare but we do get some ice in Florida!
I made homemade lemonade with homegrown lemons from a friend.
The ginger cake Aunt Dawn made.
The first turkey was a smoked turkey a friend made, Mom added the garnish.
The second turkey that dad made with some assistance from mom.
Dad's birthday falls close to thanksgiving if not on it and he got a skeleton for his birthday.
I know we're weird.
Our tradition is to decorate the house the day after Thanksgiving but we were all so busy that it was put off for much later.
Kind of like this blog is very late!
What you see here is the paper dahlia wreath that I made as well as the pictures I painted and the paper chain we all made!
Well I'm keeping this one short since it is Sunday and my family is still here visiting!
Happy Sunday from my family to you and yours!
